Gold Lustre

Palissy is a body style developed by Vodrey and Brother Pottery. It is a square shaped body style with elliptical finials and eared handles. The gold lustre Tea Leaf on this body style may seem almost to be on its side.

This body style was named for it's embossed half-cross "stitches" separated by dots.

This body style name was derived from the embossing on the top of the finial and on the top edge of the handles that resembles a fiddle head. Additional embossing resembling fiddlehead fern leaves appears on the curve of the handle and at the handle terminals.

This body style is very akin to the Delphi pattern produced by Thomas Elsmore. It bears a plain, smooth body with elaborate steeple handles and finials.

The body style is identified by the fancy crown-like finial. The medallion in the middle of the finial also appears in the middle of the handles. Holloware pieces have large bracket handles.

This sturdy body style is smooth and round resembling an inflated balloon.

This body style was identified by a printed mark.

A smooth body with tapered base and vertically ribbed neck. The piece has large ear-shaped handles.

The Ionic body style features deep ribbing or grooves on the top part of the accessory pieces while the bottom half of these pieces are quite bulbous. The moss rose motiff with gold lustre were applied. 

Tacoma was the name given to the Tea Leaf pieces - one of the five body styles of ironstone produced by Knowles, Taylor and Knowles. It has an oval or round footprint and an elyptical finial. Arched embossing is present on the sides of the ware.

Wedgwood's (1880s) version of this body style is probably the best known and the most abundant of the Square Ridged varieties. Its popularity is attested by Red Cliff's reproduction of it in the 1960's. Johnson Brothers also made this shape but it is less plentiful.

Teh basic square shape is softened by a slight flare to the waist and the inward curve of the ribbing which extends to the bracket feet. The bracket handle is also slightly curved.
